Currently Roland's art is a culmination of
different aspects of visual art. It is his goal to reconstruct
overlooked details of the world surrounding him, by utilizing materials
such as glass, metal, wood, and paint to recreate natural phenomenon.
By recreating the surface of stone, and using light to create surreal
images through glass, he aims to bring the viewer closer to these small
details that we take for granted. The Geomorphology series is inspired by
observations of natural landscapes by representing the similarities in
the way the earth looks from a plane as well as inspecting the surface
details of small stones. Sometimes a stone can reveal worlds of
mountain ranges and canyons. Each piece in this series offers the viewer a glimpse at a different world. The goal of these pieces is to entice the viewer into questioning whether they are looking at something up close or from afar, familiar or foreign.
